A blast from the past

I had a surprise email from my good friend Andy last week telling me to go to his Facebook page. When I did, I saw this picture that he had posted.

These four drawings were drawn by myself about 12 years ago using black ink pen on paper. It was part of a university project and I had completely forgotten about them until Andy emailed me. I had given them to him as a gift many years ago (something else I had forgotten about) and he had just got them framed professionally.

I'm so touched that he liked them enough to get them framed! It really made my day!

Swimming Turtle WIP 2

Making progress, slowly. I'm really wanting to finish this in the next couple of weeks, it's been dragging on for too long now.

Another swimming turtle WIP

WIP. My third turtle illustration. I have drawn this one a little larger than the previous turtle drawing so I could get more detail in and make it look more realistic.

Best Christmas present ever!

I received this amazing Christmas present from my wonderful husband! 120 Caran D'ache color pencils. I can't wait to try them out!

Swimming turtle 2

Coloured pencil on paper. I used a clear solvent pen on the water to smooth out the pencil a little. It kind of worked. Size A5.

Handmade books

Here is a collection of four books that I made during a weekend bookbinding class. It was a lot of fun and great to learn different binding techniques.

Swimming Turtle - complete

I finished this illustration a while ago but I have only got around to posting it here now. I'm not happy with how the water turned out. I'll have to give it another go some time. I don't think there is enough depth in the water. I like how the turtle came out though, even if the paper I used wasn't the best for colored pencils. I've since been using smoother paper to get a crisper edge on my line work. The WIP can be found here.
